CertainTeed Gutter Replacement: The Torrance Owner’s Guide
If your CertainTeed gutters are pulling away from the fascia, leaking at the seams, or sagging at the corners, we can replace them. In Torrance, full CertainTeed gutter replacement on a typical single-story home runs between $1,800 and $3,400 installed, including all hangers, downspouts, and disposal of the old material. Most jobs are completed in one day once we have your measurements and the matching profile confirmed.

The way Torrance homeowners usually discover they need this is unglamorous. It’s a drip you notice at the corner during a January rain. Or a gutter that’s pulled a half-inch off the roofline near the Del Amo corridor, where salt air and morning marine layer work on aluminum fasteners all year. By the time a CertainTeed gutter visibly fails, the fasteners have usually been quietly corroding for several seasons.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To
CertainTeed doesn’t make its gutters the way it makes shingles. Most CertainTeed-branded gutter systems installed on Torrance homes are actually sourced through CertainTeed’s distribution network under their Siding and Trim accessories line, which includes the 5-inch K-style profile as the overwhelming default. Some larger custom homes in Rolling Hills Estates and the Hollywood Riviera use the 6-inch profile instead.
The compatibility gotcha: CertainTeed’s 5-inch K-style gutters are not dimensionally identical to generic 5-inch K-style from hardware stores. The profile depth and the crimp design at the end caps differ slightly. If you splice a generic section onto CertainTeed runs, the seams won’t seat flush and you’ll get leaks within a season. We always match the existing profile from a physical sample, not from a photo. On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: for CertainTeed gutters specifically, we generally recommend OEM-compatible aluminum in the same gauge. Aftermarket is fine for hidden hangers and downspout elbows, but the gutter trough itself is worth matching. The aluminum thickness on CertainTeed residential gutters typically runs .027 to .032 gauge. The thinner .027 is what most big-box stores sell. We install .032.
Disclosure: Mercer Roofing Co is an independent service provider. We install and replace CertainTeed-compatible gutter systems but are not affiliated with CertainTeed Corporation.

Signs Your CertainTeed Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Seam separation at the corners. CertainTeed’s K-style seams are crimped and sealed at the factory, but years of thermal expansion in Torrance’s alternating sun and marine layer eventually break that crimp. Once separated, the seam leaks behind the gutter where you can’t see it until the fascia stains.
- Fascia board rot behind the gutter. This is the one I’d put at the top. If the gutter backed up or the drip edge wasn’t properly lapped, water travels behind the trough and rots the fascia. By the time you see paint peeling, the board usually needs replacement too.
- Visible sag between hangers. CertainTeed recommends hanger spacing no more than every 24 inches. If a previous installer stretched that to 36 or more, the aluminum will develop a visible sway. You’d see it on longer runs across the front of a Torrance ranch home.
- Downspout separation at the elbow joints. The downspout elbows are pressure-fit with a crimp. When sections pull apart mid-run, water cascades down the exterior wall instead of into the drainage. It’s common on the shaded north side of homes where moisture never fully dries.
- Granule-like debris from the gutter itself, not the shingles. Aluminum gutters don’t shed, but the galvalized end caps do. When you see fine silvery grit collecting at the downspout outlet, the end cap is corroding from salt exposure. A slow death for a $12 part that damages the entire run.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For Torrance homes, here’s the honest pricing picture:
- 5-inch K-style aluminum, typical one-story: $1,800 – $2,600 for a full perimeter replacement, including downspouts and hidden hangers
- 6-inch custom profile: $2,400 – $3,400 on larger or two-story homes
- Fascia board repair (if rotted): $12 – $18 per linear foot, only if needed after we open the area
Every Mercer job in Torrance starts with a written price before we touch your roof. That price includes the aluminum, hangers, downspouts, sealant, fasteners, and haul-away of the old material. If we open the gutter line and find the fascia is rotted behind it, we stop, show you, and give you a line-item add before doing any of that work. No change orders that show up as surprises on the invoice. The number we quote Tuesday is the number you pay Friday.
All work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the new gutter leaks, separates, or sags within a year, we make it right at no charge, including a second visit.

Gutter replacement is on the safer end of roofing work, but it’s still ladder work at height. What you can safely do yourself: check the hanger spacing with a tape measure from the ground, look for visible seam gaps, and check downspout alignment after any strong wind. What you should not do: attempt to splice a new section onto CertainTeed runs yourself. The profile mismatch issue I mentioned earlier catches people every time. If the splice doesn’t seat, you’ve spent a weekend and still have a leak at the seam.
We stock the common CertainTeed 5-inch and 6-inch profiles on our trucks, so when we arrive for an estimate, we can usually show you the exact profile that matches your existing run. You can call (424) 435-5428 and talk to a person, not a voicemail tree, any time. We’ll schedule a no-pressure measurement visit.
FAQs
Residential aluminum gutters in Torrance’s salt-adjacent climate typically last 15 to 20 years if the hanger spacing is correct and the downspouts stay clear. Homes directly facing the ocean, like those in the beach sections near Rat Beach and Malaga Cove, may see faster corrosion on galvanized end caps and need replacement in 12 to 15 years. The aluminum trough itself holds up fine; it’s the fasteners and end caps that usually drive replacement dates.
Call (424) 435-5428 for an honest assessment of how much life your current gutters have left.
Yes, in many cases. A single separated seam, a loose end cap, or a downspout that pulled apart is a repair, not a replacement. We replace gutters only when multiple seams are failing, the aluminum is crushed or creased, or the hanger spacing is wrong throughout. Repairs are less expensive and we write you a full quote for either path before any work starts.
Call (424) 435-5428 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a replacement before we ever schedule a visit.
For a typical single-story Torrance home, a full CertainTeed gutter replacement takes one working day from start to finish. Two-story homes, complex rooflines with multiple valleys, or properties requiring fascia repair usually run a second day. We’ll give you a written timeline when we quote the job.

We stock standard 5-inch and 6-inch K-style aluminum profiles that match CertainTeed-compatible gutter systems on our trucks for most Torrance jobs. For uncommon profiles or custom colors, we order the material and typically install within 3 to 5 business days of approval. We’ll tell you on the estimate visit whether your profile is a stock item or a special order.
